Clever AFC Spiralfeeder® Tilts, Rolls through Standard Doorways
Clifton, NJ: Process equipment manufacturer Automated Flexible Conveyor (AFC), Clifton, NJ, (afcspiralfeeder.com), has earned the 2025 Breakthrough Product of the Year Award. Presented by the editors of Processing, the annual award honors the tiltable AFC Spiralfeeder® flexible screw conveyor as an innovative technology solution that made significant contributions to improvements in the process industries within the past year. The tiltable screw conveyor enables an operator to automatically lower the height of the entire conveying unit at the push of a button and roll it through standard doorways without requiring any tools, disassembly, or disconnections. Once repositioned, the conveyor may be automatically raised at the push of a button and returned to service.
Given screw conveyors often use ample overhead space to transfer bulk materials up inclines to 10 feet or more, interest in a compact design has existed for many years, according to AFC Design Engineer David Nadel, noting other approaches have been offered to the industry. “But no one has offered an automated approach to lowering the height that’s as safe, clean, and easy to use as our tiltable conveyor model,” says Nadel. Rather than using a hydraulic or mechanical approach, the AFC design features a linear actuator for smooth, precise control over the tilting process that also eliminates the need for hydraulic oil, lubricants, and other maintenance needs.
The award-winning tilting powder conveyor is designed and manufactured at the company’s New Jersey facility. Product testing is offered in the on-site test lab prior to delivery and installation.
