New from AFC, Extra Precaution Keeps Unloader Upright Under Excessive Loads
Clifton, NJ: A new loss-in-weight bulk bag unloader (BBU) from process equipment manufacturer Automated Flexible Conveyor (AFC), Clifton, NJ, (afcspiralfeeder.com) features a novel failsafe bar design that helps keep the unloading machine upright in the event of an overloaded load cell. Custom-designed for a major packaging material manufacturer, the AFC weigh batching unloader integrates dual failsafe bars through the sturdy steel frame and sets them against the two load cells at floor level. If an operator raises a bulk bag that exceeds the recommended weight and snaps the load cells, or in the event of a forklift collision, or other accident, the proprietary failsafe bars are designed to engage automatically and instantaneously to help keep the bag unloader safely in place and intact.
Suitable for installation in food, plastics, chemical, pharmaceutical, and other facilities where safety is paramount, the new bulk bag unloading machine offers an upgrade versus chain style safety devices, which may take longer to engage in the event of a failure. The AFC failsafe bar design is available as an option on the company’s forklift style bulk bag unloaders that use built-in load cells.
The loss-in-weight bulk bag unloading system is designed and manufactured at the company’s New Jersey headquarters. Factory acceptance testing is offered in the on-site test lab to document performance and capabilities.
